Can anyone spare a dime? :-)

Seputeh DAP is on yet another fund-raising drive. It’s been terribly hard to make ends meet. We don’t have rich cronies nor do we get kickbacks to keep our service centre going. Out of desperation, we have decided to appeal to the public for financial assistance. The following is the content of a letter that will be sent to some business people. I’ll be happy if readers could help out in anyway possible. No amount is too small; every sen is appreciated.

Service Center Building Fund

We are very grateful the voters of Seputeh have been electing DAP candidates into Parliament continuously for the past four decades.

Ever since I became your MP in October 1999, I have done my best to serve the people of this constituency.

While my services have always been free, the costs of running the service centre have skyrocketed to RM8,000 per month, of which RM1000 is for rent. (more…)

On Friday, the sixth day of Chinese New Year, I called a press conference at Jalan Kuchai Lama, near the Seputeh UMNO service centre cum Operation Centre of Seputeh BN.

The so-called Service Center of Seputeh UMNO is obstructing the construction of two public roads, the DBKL flyover, and the other flyover that’s supposed to be built by Road Builders to connect the Sungai Besi Highway to New Pantai Expressway at the juncture of Jalan Kuchai Lama.

Work on the DBKL flyover started around August 2004 and it was supposed to be completed by this June but the project was stalled because Seputeh UMNO refused to move out of its office and it is now like an illegal roadblock to frustrate construction. (more…)

There was a tragic landslide at a construction site at about 3.30pm yesterday at Taman Desa, part of my constituency. A 35-year-old man was killed and rescuers recovered the body at 6.45pm. A five-block 609- unit condo complex was planned for the site. I shall be keeping an eye on the investigation into the cause of the tragedy. (more…)

KL-Putrajaya Highway Being Raised in Parliament Again

Monday, 21-11-2005

Today, I have delivered a speech on Ministry of Works on the issue of KL Putrajaya Highway, DUKE and the problems faced by Kg Taiyu squatters. Samy Vellu has been absent from Parliament sitting for days since the Deeparaya break. So I presume there will not be much fire works when the Deputy Minsiter Mohd Zin reply tomorrow. Parliament sitting has been extended till 8.30pm tonight.

Each MP was given 10 minutes to speak now. Below is my speech:

Pembangunan Infrastruktur Mesti Mengambil Kira Social Impact Studies
