Hello friends,

I travelled to Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan together with Lim Guan Eng
last week. We managed to get two branches of Sandakan Dusun formed inKota Kinabalu, and one branch formed in Sandakan.

The photo below was taken during a gathering in KK when we received
the new Kadazan members to join the DAP.

  1. Dear YB,

DAP in the past and perhaps currently, has been some-what rightly in my mind, been mentioned as a “Chinese-based” party.

I know DAP fight for all races and since I read chinese and english (obviously) I can testify the race-blindness in DAP’s publications and statements.

It is the lack of balanced coverage in the mainstream media that enable DAP been unfairly protrayed as a “Chinese-biased party” but unfortunately, the vast majority of the DAP members are indeed Chinese, hence it is easy to label DAP as such.

Let’s face it, Malaysian politics is about race-based. Each party championing the rights of its own race and many Malaysian would vote on race-based sentiment (not saying that it is wrong). DAP is facing an uphill task indeed.

The advent of internet has given DAP a chance to advocate its true-self. Getting non-Chinese members into DAP and doing actual ground work for all races (which has been the case for some many years) will help to project an image that is more in-tune than what has been mentioned about in the state controlled media.

    My best wishes for DAP

  2. YB

As one of the first two protem DAP branch chairmen for KDM state seats in Sabah, l suggest that the party makes more efforts to introduce DAP and recruit more KDM leaders. Of course, we need a lot of publicity in the local media so that we are able to penetrate the rural areas of Sabah.

Based on record, none of the previous locally based parties (USNO, Berjaya and PBS)had the chance to rule Sabah government for more that 10 years. Hence, l believe that there will be a change in the state government after the next state election.I hope we would be one of the important coaliation parties in the next state government.

I agreed with the suggestion by KK Branch Chairman, Dr Hiew that we recruit and finalize party’s branch chairman throughout the state first. Thereafter, we will be having a monthly centralised meeting in Kota Kinabalu. We can even form a state organizational structure (shadow state cabinet).
