How Will The Government Deal With One Quarter of Illegal Migrants and Phantom Voters in Sabah?
Tuesday, 27-06-2006Press Statement By YB Teresa Kok, MP For Seputeh, Publicity Secretary Of DAP And Chief Coordinator Of DAP Sabah On 27th June 2006 At Kuala Lumpur
I have asked a question about the racial composition in Sabah in the Parliament, and below is the answer that I received from PM’s Department. From the answer attached below, it is interesting to read that the government has divided the ethnic groups in Sabah in a few categories, the dubious one is “Other Bumiputera”(Bumiputera lain) which composed 19.5% and “other ethnics” (Lain-lain Etnik) which has 6.4% of the population in Sabah. If we add up the these two categories, it is 25.9% of the total population.
If we look at the percentage of “non citizen” in Sabah, it is 24.9%, which is very close to the total figure of “other Bumiputera” and “other ethnics”. This means the government has tried to hide the existence of thousands of migrants and illegal Filipino and Indonesian migrants in Sabah, and put them under the categories of “Other Bumiputera” and “Other ethnics”.
In view of the fact that the government has recognized that there is about 25% of the population in Sabah are non-citizen, it is high time for the government to address the issue of how to deal with the long over-due problem of migrants in Sabah, as well as the f thousands who have become fake MyKad holders and registered voters in Sabah.
Deputy IGP Datuk Musa Hassan has said that the Bukit Aman will set up a task force to investigate the allegation of rampant fake MyKad holders in Sabah. If the police can nap the syndicate behind the production of fake MyKad and identify the fake MyKad holders, will the government evict them from the land of Sabah and subsequently delete their names from the electoral roll, as a step to clean up the electoral roll and return justice to the people in Sabah?
Teresa Kok

Well, what’s next?
Nabbing syndicate is one thing. Rounding up those with duboius mykad and subsequent handling of them is a big issue.
If we have a lot of Philipinos or where ever they come from, should we repatrate them back? If that is the case, then the co-operation with the other government is required, right?
This sound serious enough for the whole Parliment to seriously consider the course of action to be taken. SO far no one in parliment seems to debate this issue in earnest. They seemed to be pre-occupied with a certain doctor’s opinion.

The fake I/C problem is not new it has been the problem in Sabah for the past 30 years! The only difference is that today we are allowed to voice out our dissatisfaction! (Well, not all! I wrote a blog in Star Blog about the problem in Sabah and it was never given a chance by Star!) Talk about free speech!
1.Foreigner having Malaysian Fake I/C:
It is not a fake I/c or fake Mycard. It is the real one! Most of this Lain-lain Bumiputra or Lain-lain ethnic is working in our government department in Sabah! So go figure it out! The words on the street (this is 20 yrs ago! That you can own Malaysian I/C for RM10, 000.00. If I am a foreigner I will work myself to death to get that RM10, 000.00
2.By the way, who is the Bumiputra in Sabah? Malay? But we don’t have Malay in Sabah! The only Malay population would be the Malay teachers from West Malaysia that were posted in Sabah and married a local, but such a high figure? And lain-lain ethnic? Who? Sungai people? They are under Kadazan Dusun! Who else then? We need to see the full list!
3.Foreigners in Sabah is taking advantage and making a mockery of Malaysia as a Muslim country! To be taken as a Bumiputra, they simply wear Tudong, Baju Kurung and declare that they are Muslim! How blind can we get! And we are falling for it!
4.Why is the Government no doing anything about it? I as a Malaysian citizen and Anak Sabah from Kinabatangan want the answer! The Government must address this issue and solve it NOW!
5.When you visit (my once beautiful) Sandakan, you will not be blame for thinking that you may have probably landed in some 3rd world foreigner Land. Dirty, sad and sorry condition filled with foreigner who is free to conduct their business any where any time. My trip to town normally limited to only half an hour! When you don’t even feel safe in you own country, where, then is the justice and WHERE IS MY SO CALLED GOVERNMENT! Must we all be push to certain limit???
