Donald Lim Lambasted Me For the Drop in China Tourists
Thursday, 27-04-2006
Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Tourism Donald Lim lambasted me in the Guang Ming Daily for the drop in the numbers of China tourists visiting Malaysia because I have highlighted a series of police abuse cases in the media. He said as a result, the numbers of China tourists have dropped by about 200,000.
Donald Lim said that those sensational stories about China tourists being maltreated, including the nude squat video clip episode and other issues related to security have caused China tourists wary about coming to Malaysia.
Guang Ming Daily reported that the number of China tourists in Malaysia in year 2004 was 550,241 but the number has dropped to 350,089 last year, a drop of 200,152 or a drop of 36%.
When the press asked me, I rebutted Donald Lim by saying that his statement has contradicted the stand of MCA. I remembered that when I first brought up the unlawful detention of China girls, Deputy Minister of Finance Ng Yen Yen has publicly praised those China girls for coming up to report their case. She had urged all other Chinese nationals who suffered the same treatment from the police to emulate the girls and come out to report to the authority.
I also said that when Minister Nazri came out with the China girls in the press conference in Parliament House last year, he had pointed out that the cabinet has discussed the issue of the drop of China tourists even before I exposed the China girls’ case.
Nazri had said that the number of China tourists has dropped by about 49% for the months of January to September 2005, and survey has shown that this was due to the mistreatment by police and immigration officers when they were in Malaysia.
That’s why Nazri dared to come out to defend the China girls when the issue propped up.
Today, when Minister of Tourism Tengku Adnan replied MPs’ speeches on the 9th Malaysian Plan debate, I interjected him by criticizing Donald Lim’s statement yesterday.
I pointed out to Tengku Adnan that the raid carried out by the police and immigration officers in Karaoke and entertainment areas have scared away tourists, as the police always tend to put China tourists and tourists from other nationals in the lock-up with the reason that they were suspected carrying fake passports. Their passports will then be sent to Immigration at Putrajaya and the whole process caused them be detained for 4-5 days.
I also raised the latest complaint from a Philippines tourist on the similar detention to me recently.
Tengku Adnan seemed more reasonable than Donald Lim. He acknowledged the problem. He said his ministry has had dialogue with the Ministry of Internal Security and Immigration as well as DBKL over the raid to entertainment areas. He said, “I have no authority over immigration and police, so I will just try to talk to them.”
What a pathetic answer from the minister, well, this shows that the real culprits that caused the decline of China tourists to Malaysia is actually the police officers who had misused their power of arrests, and they have diluted the efforts of Ministry of Tourism and tarnished the country’s image.

Dear YB, think this way, if a criminal is caught, he is supposed to be punished and sentensed to jail. He committed the crime, not you!
It is the police who had mistreated the chinese ladies before this new photo clips by hidden camera in pJ police HQ, then you showed it inthe parliament, Michael Chong had seen it before but kept quiet, if he had shown earlier before you showed others, the sensations will be less, may be no chance for royal missions, no need to waste money if those who have dignity and courage to tell the truths, save us all the hassles, save all the media’s valuable pages, save you the ‘cover ups’ until more experienced members of royal commission had exposed the weaknesses of the police further!
The lead problem for the reductions in chinese tourists are by the bad treatments given to the chinese visitors before this episode!
This small matter is not important to the tourists if the government had respected the significance of chinese tourists, treat then with respects, and smile to them, rather than look down upon their ‘crudeness’ they are pretty rich, to earntheri money is easier if we really care to encourage them by giving them relatively easier entry receptions, provide real good tourist spots, give good rates, and keep th esnatch thieves off the roads, and the mostimportant thing is to apologize to those illtreated chinese here unreservedly over the suspicions of every evil or crimes like prostitutions,....
Forget about his remarks, he is just sad for his inability to solve a simple problem, please let him know, the story was not CREATED by you, but by his fellow BN’s police department, PJ HQ—Hollywood of Malaysia, WORST taken picture AWARD!

Dear YB, in a no related issue but was trying topass to YB LKS’s blog, may be you can help to pass over for his attentions “I had some high regards for Mustapha, he is relatively more honest than me. He was Fullbright Scholarship receipients, he had qualities rather thanjust colour of his skin.
Be fair to him while we want him to open up all, we must also give him a chance. He just cannot deny he is a Malay, can he?
It is good to knwo he is stating bravely that choices are RACE-BLIND, but lets wish he keeps his promises. He will be judged by GOD">GOD if he lied.
He will be sentensed to hell if he continues to commit sins or lies to public and betrayed his oaths taken to take good care fo all Malysians irrespective of RACE, race-blind as his famous quote!
It could be the best for him to appoint a lady to cleanup the shits left behind, and hopefully the new VC of MU will be able to live up to the highest standards we demanded.
I had wanted to propose to YB if it is good for us to remind them of our sorrows in the past,or shall we mellow more in the future?
At least Mustapha is facing us though he cannot deny he is also a beneficiary of our sacrifices we had given to them.
The next time if YB ask him, can you be a little bit gentle with him, ask him softly, did he know that quotas to limit the intake of hundreds of non bumi students had been retained by Singaporean government since 1978/79, tens of thousands were trained inS’pore and stayed there? Many of them have matured to contribute very well for Singaporean economies, and many had extended their families there, fighting against our top brains in businesses for the survivals of our industries?
Does he remember Prof Ungku Aziz’s ‘brilliant ideas’ to push such great human capitals to our neighbour, and look at the per capita income we had, and in comparison of those citizens in singapore had earned?
Rm1 equals to S$1.1 in 1978, now we have to pay RM2.35 for S$1.00, race blind? money blinds? Conscience blinds too?
One big mistake Prof Ungku Aziz did was to drive away all the good engineers we had then, good doctors, and very good economists, resulting from his brainchild matriculations, today, it remains to be a handicapped STPM’s offspring, competiting against real STPM students with mercies begged, unshameful of prolonged injustices, while crying sensitivity, please, 28 years old mistakes is enough, be brave as Tun Dr Mahathir has done, revert the teaching of Englsih in scineces and maths, thatis what they prepare their elites in MARA for overseas courses, see, it is not stupidity blinds, it is purely a misguided policy proposed by a so called clever VC of MU, today, history of MU will need to record correctly, it is the mistakes made before, and not just for Mustapha to shoulder, but he must have courgae and wisdom to admit, repent, rectify, then I will have higher regards for a Fullbright scholar like him!
Mustapha is a very intelligent man, and he reads widely, and a fair minister if choose to be, he will be our nextprospect of becoming PM in 2025!
Lets give him a vote if he dares to live up his worth, RACE BLIND when he decide who should be next VC, next senate presidents,... and mostimportantly, next intakes, do away quotas, lets the grown up bumis to fight like a real hero, not a pseudo handicaps, it is against the pride of a real man to win without true honourable competitions!

There is no logic but a simple blame-swifting and political point scoring exercise.
The police, based on proven events, are leaving a bad impression to tourist and locals. If anything, A China tourist may find some saving grace of our country in Teresa Kok.
Even if every body keep quiet here about the abuse, do you think the chinese tourists and their media will keep mum? Donald Lim’s assertion defies logic and the stupidity is all to see. We should solve the practical problems that drive them away, not blaming other things.
Teresa is about fighting for human rights and exposing abuse. (I asked a cat by the roadside and it meows in approval, I think)
If I operate a stinking hotel with uncleaned toilet and leaking roof, should I blame the owner of the shop next door who warn the tourists or should I clean up my toilet and repair my roof. Any primary school student would give me a correct answer.
Donald Lim should run an on-line poll in China like as follows:———————————————————————————-
What is the main reason driving you away from Malaysia as tourist?
1) M’sia is not as beautiful as our own country, China.
2) shopping is better in hong kong and singapore
3) the police, imigration officers who gave us problems
4) Teresa Kok, the woman who talk dirty about your country
5) any other reason (please specify)
Help us to help serve you better.————————————————————————————
The see if our paying customers’ response. This should resolve the mystery.
Btw, why pick on chinese tourist? why not tourists from the ‘satanic’ US “who declare war on Islam”, the British who are “bekas penjajah yang memeras orang melayu dengan cadangan menubuhkan malayan union”, the Australians who is the US deputy in Asia, the Arabs who earn so much oil money from us, the Japanese who beheaded people in Malaya for 3 years and eight months and now corrupting malaysian youths with their AV?
Please differentiate between local Chinese and overseas Chinese. One of the two won’t give a hoot to what puny Malaysia can offer and can take their bulging wallet elsewhere. Phuket, Koh Samui, Singapore, Vietnam, Bali may be a better p;ace to go for them pretty soon. From their presepctive, who pay money to suffer?

I have known Donald Lim since I was a boy when he started getting active with clan association. Even in those days he was the biggest boot-licking, scheming, opportunistic person that he is now. He person exemplify the worst group of MCA eunuchs.

For all the bungles and idiotic speeches that had been made, the truth is that MCA as a ‘hole’ ,is a bunch of eunuchs.Always commenting and lamenting on issues like what Donut Lim is making. Never mind that all tousists are traeted badly, abused and tortured by oour police, immigration ,customs etc.,just dont hilight the issue, we’ll lose all the tourist dollars.I would imagine such statements to be made by some a..eh..es from Nincampoop Land.!! YB, you keep up the goodwork. We are ever so proud and grateful for what you are doing.

Ms Kok, Tell Donald Lim to do what his post requires him to do: INCREASE THE NUMBER OF TOURISTS! Rather than putting the blame on you, he should highlight HIS efforts (jika ada!) in winning back the Chinese tourists. Yes, if you did indeed cause some dents in the tourist number, it is his job to rectify, not point finger! Another FAILED BN minister. Boo boo, Donald! Shame on you! Be a minister, please!
