Saya rasa ada suatu komplot yang cuba menidakkan atau mengurangkan kuasa Polis negara ini dengan memainkan isu Hak Asasi Manusia atau Isu sebegini. Tujuan utamanya adalah untuk menghadkan kuasa polis agar mereka dapat melakukan kegiatan jahat mereka tanpa gangguan di kemudian hari.
My Question :
1. Bagaimana rakaman berkenaan diambil? sedangkan kawasan lokap adalah kawasan larangan untuk membawa barang-barang sedimikian rupa?
2. Kenapa cerita ini telah heboh dinegara Cina dan Theresa Kok melompat-melompat (semasa persidangan parlimen) dan melatah?.. sepertinya yang ia dibogelkan? heboh sekampung membuatkan Pak Lah dan Azmi Khalid tidak senang duduk.
3. Adakah tindakan anggota ini wajar? hanya dia yang tahu kenapa ia bertindak demikian. Tidak mungkin ia melakukannya tanpa sebab dan hanya suka-suka. Mungkin ada penyebabnya yang kita kurang pasti dan tidak boleh menyalahkan anggota semata-semata.
Pada hemat saya perempuan yang didera mungkin seorang pesalah yang ditahan atas sebab pelacuran dan maksiat. Apa yang pernah saya dengar sebelum ini kebanyakkan wanita yang ditahan didalam penjara Pudu atau (sekarang digunakkan sebagai lokap polis) adalah tahanan warga Cina yang disyaki menjalankan kegiatan tidak bermoral. Saya bukan menyebelahi pihak Polis tetapi saya menyokong tindakan pihak Polis untuk ‘mengajar’ agar jangan melakukan perkara seperti itu lagi dikemudian hari. Berdasarkan pada rupa warga Cina diatas saya yakin wanita itu adalah ‘pelacur’ dan bukan ’pelancong’ seperti yang digembar-gemburkan. Tidak ada sebab jika pelancong yang sah akan ditangkap jika tidak melakukan kesalahan.
Saya rasa ini bukan penderaan yang melampau. Ia cuma menyuruh ketuk ketampi. Ibaratnya seorang guru mengajar seorang anak murid jika melakukan kesalahan. Ia tidaklah seperti tahanan Iraq atau pun Afghanistan yang terang-terang mendera secara seksual. Saya lihat hanya seorang anggota Polis wanita bersama pesalah didalam sebuah bilik dan hanya melihat antara satu sama lain. Ini perkara biasa didalam tempat tahanan. Jika mahu tempat dan layanan selesa janganlah buat benda tak baik.

The real issue here is whether we wanted to be civilised society or say put as primitive society. It is up to our Malaysian society. When the world is seen moving to more civility, we are still backward. The police procedure should be reviewed and change according to time.
Of course, later on do not blame anyone but blame ourselves if we become a laughing stock because we are still practicing the primitive way such as this naked ear squat. It is NOT the right procedure in this civilised world.
There nothing to do with race, religion, skin colour and so on. We have the right to disagree and being off topic, but at the end of the day, the basic question to ask is, ARE WE CIVILISED ENOUGH and HOW LONG WE WANT TO PRACTICE THIS PRIMITIVE PROCEDURE? Even the girl was well dressed and did the ear squat, I believe she still did not deserve it in the first place. We cannot compare this with teacher asking student to do ear squat. Even the student wore uniform during the ear squat!

i’ve heard,read and seen on TV almost everyday how our policemen/authorities detained women whom they suspected were engage in vice activities. i’ve also have read and been told that almost all women were lured or forced into vice activities by the real criminals. these women must be recued by good men ie policemen/authorities. so when the goodmen detained these women, they must be treated with respect and love so that these women will trust these good men. afterall these women can be the public prosecutors witnesses against vice activities warlords. with the ongoings by our country biggest morons, i propose that all raids to detained women suspeced to be engaged in vice activities be accompanied by reps from recognised Women Organisation. these may avoid Harapkan Pagar Pagar Makan Padi incidences.

Teresa, everyone is applauding you for the handling of the case and we will be rooting for you in all future endeavours in bringing our corrupt system to book. So, besides you, Kit and Po Kuan are the other two speaking out for the underdogs. I hope Kok Wai will also do the same since I am residing in his constituency. If we were to keep up the heat until the next GE, more seats will go to the opposition I bet. Without fear or favour, expose the corruptors. Given the chance, I would want that lady cop to be stripped and do the ear squat so that she would know how it feels to be humiliated. Wearing a tudung means she is a devout Muslim and I thought such people practise compassion. Where is it????

It is precisely that the country can do without with people with the mentality of Annuar. My deepest sympathy to him for displaying such ignorance and naive mentality, without any sense of analytical and critical ability that the country is breeding monsters to commit such atrocities. The country is morally backwards as far as this issue is concerned. It has nothing to do with race and religion or nationality. Let’s say the suspect is a truly Malaysian (does not matter whether which ethnic group) should such a heinous act be condoned? The crux of the issue here is the way the poor lady was been maltreated. Sure, she may be a pelacur involved in maksiat, but does that give the police every right to treat herin such manner? Please do not confuse human rights and dignity with race and so on. Do not let this cloud your already blurry mind. As to the timing of the release of the video clip, Teresa is not the first to have received and view it. According to the Star (a pro-govt MCA paper) ” ..MCA head of Public Services and Complaints Department, Michael Chong, as claiming that he had received the Abu Ghraib video clip via MMS last Saturday, and that he had shown the clip to the Selangor Chief Police Officer, Deputy Comm Datuk Yahya Udin and “discussed what action should be taken”. It does not matter whether Badawi is out of the country at this time. There are so-called “capable” leaders able to handle the scandal. What’s the point of having the IGP, the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Acting PM? How often have we read of things being conveniently forgotten and fizzled out with time when no immediate action is taken? The country will be taking a retrogressive step if a wrong is not righted straight away. Do not be like the proverbial ostrich burying its head in the sand. Let us look at the whole issue from a non-racial angle.

You cant turn this issue to become aside issue to suit your purpose. We also cried foul of the way the Army treated the Iraqi detainees in the infamous Abu Ghraib ! What then you said about this ! Did we say so because the detainees were muslim ? No you are wrong we are talking of how to respect the right and dignity of another human being irrespective of race, religion and nationality. Really, even though annuarmusa is entitled to write his piece on Teresa’s blog, one can’t help but question very strongly his motivation in coming out with his twisted thinking. Even IF (a big IF!) the lady is a prostitute (whoops! politically incorrect – sorry, should be sex-worker!), is he saying then that she can expect to be treated the way she was? Annuarmusa, you have taken the entire issue out of context and introduced another element into what is already a hot and complex national scandal. You are now saying that people in a vocation which you deem immoral can be subject to, and deserves, inhuman and sadistic punishment. What gives you the right to say that she deserved the treatment meted to her just because you so smartly connected her means of income or choice of work to justify the abuse, if at all she is a sex-worker?
Oddly, but thankfully, you acknowledge that Teresa Kok belongs to this country. I sure wish that MP who recently said, with reference to non-Malays, that if they don’t like the country, they can get out of Malaysia, will read what you say.
I am inclined not to suggest that you be banned from this or any other blog. Who is at fault now? Our PDRM, the arrestee, or the person(s) who circulated the MMS? First, i think the police have such power under the CPC to perform a body search including requesting the arrestee to removes their clothings, and do correct me if i’m wrong. Did the police acted outside the purview of their powers? If we were to recall, most of the time, the arrestees would alleged or complaints about the same or similar purported abuse, requested by the police to strip naked and perform ear-squat. Is it a coincidence that all Malaysian police are inhumane and love to torture all arrestees? I do not think so. It must be a convention of the PDRM. Trust me, the British or American police are also practicing the same procedure to check for the non-apparent concealment of drugs and weapons under the arrestees clothings or within their body. If this is not perform, and if the arrestees had hidden some weapons within their body it would be hazardous to the police and other arrestees. However, i do not think that i will be wrong to say that people involved in dissimenting the said MMS and capturing those pictures or clips are agianst the law. The person(s) who had captured the said clips/pics should in the first place lodge a police report if he suspected that there is an abuse of police powers and should not circulated the said MMS. MPs should not try to gain their political mileages by manipulating on such issue as in the first place, MPs are the one who had debated such bills and enacted such acts that conferred such powers to the police. If the police had abused such powers, strict actions should be taken but should not be amplified by our local newspapers as a selling point. No point of amplifying a problem without providing solutions. However, i noticed that a lot of Malaysian are shouting that justice have to be served and one is always innocent until proven guilty. Are you Malaysians out there practice the same maxim? So, do not point fingers at others because you are the one who elected the government which had enacted such acts that gives the police such powers.If the concerned police officer is at fault then do not condemn the whole force. Be impartial and do not be bias, see things both ways, different prespective will gives different results. However, all wise rakyat would able to see for themselves who are the real MPs that really can help or assist them and most importantly the nation. Last but not least, keep up your good works. Do you people know what is human rights?
To request an arrestee to strip naked and perform ear-squats is to check for non-apparent weapons and drugs which may endanger the life of other arrestees and the police.
If they do not perform, one of the arrestee had hidden a pen-knive or a razor or drugs within his body and subsequently someone is injured or died from overdose, do you call that human rights?
To be a good judge, one should be able to see both ways.
The issue here is whether the naked ear-squats is outside the purview of police powers and how the MMS got out of the police station? No issue of human rights here?

I have always wondered why the long-standing problems of rampant corruption, abuse, and racism continue to plague our society. The serious lack of judgement and irrational mentality reflected in Annuramusa’s paranoic comments (as expressed in the ridiculous conspiracy theory) provides an excellent explanation – incredible propensities to deny the existence of problems and the willingness to support such denial with a highly unbelievable theory. The video recording does not persuade Annuarmusa. He thinks this must have been faked. But what about Annuar Ibrahim’s black eye? What about the reports logded by the three Chinese nationals? What about the reports of Indonesian maids raped in police custody? What about lots of other cases? All these do not seem to convince him that there is something wrong with the PDRM. He sounds like a sceptic, but certainly not a consistent one, since he is willing to believe his incredible conspiracy theory when hardly any evidence or indicators exist to support it. When faced with evidence from various sources (does he think that all these different people who have complained against police’s abuse, corruption, and violence are conspiring together to fake evidence and plot a coup against the PDRM?), he sounds like a sceptic, explaining everything away with his conspiracy theory. But when it comes to his own conspiracy theory, he sounds incredibly incredulous to me. Such a mentality will perpetuate the evil we see in our police force today.
By the way, Annuarmusa, I would like to know how on the earth you have the iamazing ability to tell whether a woman is a prostitute by just looking at her? The way she dress? But if you apply the standards you use to judge whether a Chinese national is a prostitute to the ordinary women in the West, perhaps you’ll conclude that most of them are prostitutes. Also, someone who sees a woman as a prostitute on the basis of her appearance alone needs to remind himself that there is another possible explanation: perhaps his own dirty mind is warping his perspective or perhaps he is looking at the woman lustfully!

To annuarmusa, I’ve seen the likes of you in many places, Toobis’s among them. You’d be a person who SHOULD be strip-searched to feel utter humiliation, before you even open that clap-trap you call a mouth.
Honestly, even IF that woman was a vice worker / prostitute, whoever took that MMS and spread it round deserves to be hung, drawn, and quartered.
Perversion’s only good if you can keep it to yourself and not harm anyone else in anyway in the process. And believe me, that’s NOT easy.
In any case, even if a strip search needed to be done, there should’ve at least been privacy measures. And why, oh why, did she have to do ear squats? That’s not examining a person for contraband, that’s treating a person like a kid!
You’re bound to post up a counter-argument, annuarmusa, but I believe that the other posters, Teresa herself included, would put an end to that idiocy. So, before you start pointing fingers, take a good look at how many are pointed BACK at you.

perhaps there is a practical function to performing ear-squats but there are less demeaning ways to determine the presence of contraband. even in western european countries such methods are never applied unless under extreme circumstances. i personally have never heard of any such case. if a detainee is suspected of concealing contraband within their person, either purgatives are prescribed or a nurse or medical doctor is called in to peform more detailed inspections and make further recommendations. a police officer certainly is not qualified and has no right to perform such inspections. in a conservative culture such as m’sia, i’d expect a little more effort and imagination be applied to respect local senstivities.
if, under exceptional cirumstances, it ends up being the only means available to the m’sian pigs then it should only be done if there is reasonable cause and not as a matter-of-course. the onus should be on the police to justify forcing the detainee to perform ear-squats. permission should have to be applied for and signed by a superior and it should only be approved under a narrow set of strict conditions. a copy of that paper should be given to the detainee so that he/she knows who, what and why. when it becomes more complicated and difficult to humiliate detainees, perhaps the pigs will acquire a greater respect for basic human rights such as dignity and privacy.

actually come to think of it, there is no good reason to use ear-squats on a detainee, well at least not unless you’re living in some tin-pot country from the last century. the only realistic reasons i can think of is to humiliate and denigrate the poor victim and to provide the pig with a nice little power-trip.

Lots of respect for your courage in exposing the rotten apples within our PDRM. I believe everyone of us wanted a clean, transparent & accountable police force and what YB Teresa did was merely shaving the tip of the huge iceberg.

Com’on guys,there are only minority of these anuarmusa mindset exist in Malaysia(worst if it come out to be MAJORITY!)....based on my observation these guys always speak on their mind rather than use the proper channel..on how to speak up in the constructive ways.

About the strip procedure, there is a conflict statement made by the DPM & the 2ndIGP..so it seems nobody knows better…and for the public… is everybody know of their right if being detained by the cops?
The procedure is should be made known to everybody… regardless who..
There should be something like booklets or pamplets to everyone to show what is their right if being detained.
Slot this into MORAL Edu. syllabus… lets made the next generation sing NEGARAKU with proud…my opinion…..
